The village of Šenov u Nového Jičína is located on both sides of the river Jičínka and the district road leading from Nový Jičín to Fulnek. The built-up part of the village forms a capital letter "L". Along the river Jičínka from south to north is about 3 km long, and along the district road leading from west to east, also about 3 km. The area of the village is 1,563.18 hectares and lies at an altitude of 261 m. Its territory partially extends into the cadastre of the village and the Poodří Protected Landscape Area. The oldest report about the village is from 1373. The village has more than 2,000 inhabitants.
