Bělkovice-Lašťany was created by merging two originally separate villages Bělkovice and Lašťany in 1960, while the first written mention of Bělkovice comes from 1238, Lašťany is first mentioned in a document from 1078. The village Bělkovice-Lašťany is located in the foothills of the Low Jeseníky Mountains. The village is located near an important road, created in the Theresian period as a postal road that connected Olomouc and Šternberk. The cadastres of both original villages touch and are basically divided by the twenty-nine-kilometer-long Trusovický stream. In the village we can also find the recreational area Bělkovické údolí with 125 holiday cottages. As of 1 January 2020, 2,312 citizens of the Czech Republic were registered for permanent residence in the municipality.
